Just when he was halfway through the forest on his way to the next town, Aaron heard the rustling of the leaves. He was not alone.
With great agility and speed, Aaron climbed up a tree and rested on the thick branches. After all, having a bird’s eye view could guarantee some advantage over the other party.
A few seconds later, Aaron saw a figure dashing below him heading in the direction towards the town which Aaron came from.
Aaron was certain it was a vampire but he wasn’t sure if it was sent from the clan.
Aaron POV: But wouldn’t it be useless if they were to send only one assassin to kill me? But what if Xiu and Wu Xiong couldn’t handle it, they would be inevitably killed!
Unable to take the risk, Aaron jumped off the tree with as little noise as possible and headed after the vampire.
However, Aaron lost track of the vampire right before a forest clearing. Sensing something amiss, Aaron walked cautiously through the clearing, preparing to battle.
‘Looking for me?’ Someone said quietly, the voice clear and confident.
Aaron turned and pointed his sword at the intruder, surprised to come face to face with a female vampire.
Aaron POV: How could she have run that fast?
Aaron: Who are you?
‘A vampire. Which I guessed you have already knew by now. You are Aaron Yan, am I right?’ she replied coldly.
Aaron asked again, coldly: Who are you?
Han: I am Han.
Aaron: Han? I have never heard of you.
Han: Of course you haven. Your world was too occupied with Gui Gui.
Aaron: *frowned* What do you want?
Han: Your life!
Without another word, Han ran towards Aaron with the speed of lightning, ready to strike when its time.
Aaron jumped away and was able to narrowly escape Han’s attack.
Han took out her weapon- a long slick metal chain and she threw it skillful in an attempt to wound Aaron.
Aaron blocked the attack with his sword but his sword ended up being entangled by Han’s metal chain.
The two parties exerted great strength on each of their weapon and none of them budged. It was a stiff fight.
Just then, Aaron noticed the existence of a third party- another vampire.
Knowing that this could smell trouble, Aaron took out a small bottle that was stripped to his belt. Without further ado, he threw the cap away and splashed the contents onto Han. It was holy water.
Caught off guard, Han exclaimed in pain and released her grip on her weapon.
Just when she was about to strike again, a dozen needles flew in her direction. With great agility, Han managed to dodge the attack. Without further words, she escaped into the deep dark woods.
Surprised, Aaron turned and came face to face with the ‘owner’ of the needle attack. It was the third party, who was also a vampire.
Aaron: Who are you? Why are you helping me? Aren’t you her ally?
The vampire replied calmly: I’m quite different from the other vampires. I don’t really fancy the killings. By the way, I’m Ella.
Though still in doubt of her true purpose, Aaron still decided to treat her with politeness to reciprocate for the help she had extended.
Aaron: I’m Aaron.
Ella: Well, I kind of figured that out when I saw your sword. Impressive sword.
Aaron: Thanks. I have got to go now.
With that, Aaron turned his back on Ella but was stopped by her.
Ella: Hey, where are you heading?
Aaron: *paused* Why would that be of your concern?
Ella: Well, I guess you could help me. I’m looking for a friend. She was being hunted by an evil clan and she had sent a message to me when she was attacked. However, when I finally reached her hideout, she was gone. I had been finding her but she seemed to have disappeared into thin air.
Upon hearing Ella’s story, Aaron straightened up.
Aaron asked cautiously: What is your friend’s name?
Ella: She’s Hebe.
Aaron: *raised an eyebrow* How did you know her?
Ella: Just a few years ago. She saved me once. Let me tell you a secret. She is the secret master of the vampire world but just about a week ago, she was betrayed by someone and was ever since the target of the evil clan.
Aaron POV: Could she be speaking the truth? She could be someone sent from the clan. Or she could be just like Xiu and Wu Xiong, a kind-hearted vampire. Furthermore, Han seemed to be bent on killing me, could she be from the evil clan? But Han has got no canine badge on her. Should I believe Ella?
Ella took a step closer to Aaron: Thinking if you should trust me? Well, I wouldn’t benefit from lying to you. I could just see you being attacked by that vampire just now without helping if I wanted you dead.
Just before Aaron could decide if Ella is friend or foe, the furious rustling of leaves from afar could be heard.
Aaron knew, without a doubt, that there were at least ten vampires heading towards him and Ella.
Ella: You heard that?
Aaron nodded curtly: Hurry!
With that, Aaron led Ella through the deep and dark woods, towards the direction where he came from.
Regardless of whether Aaron trusted Ella or not, Aaron knew that Gui Gui and the rest would be in trouble if he doesn’t rush back in time…
